How to be a good leader: Eliminate these 7 bad habits to be the best boss
To stand out as a leader in your own right, you must create the habits that support your success and good reputation.

To understand how to be a good leader, you first need to know how to be a good boss, husband, and father. This means that a person’s leadership begins with the abilities they have to understand others.
To talk about leadership and feel like a good boss or friend, you must set an example in everything you do. For that reason, great leaders are not born but are built with learning and daily experience.
The best bosses and leaders of great companies are people who have built their leadership process over time. They have learned that understanding how to be a good boss implies, first of all, is being an excellent person.
How to be a good leader by eliminating your bad habits:
So if you want to know how to be a good leader, then stop obsessing over it. You are the only person around you who knows (or cares) that you are having a bad day.
You do not need to vent your anger and problems on people around you. On the contrary, to be a good boss, you must always transmit one hundred percent peace of mind to your team.
We have all had the experience of worrying about how others perceived something we said or did.
What about those moments of self-awareness where we don’t contribute to a conversation for fear of sounding stupid, or when we can’t think of anything but the glass of water we just threw out at the restaurant?
1. The reflector effect.
Social psychologists call this the reflector effect; this is how it works.
When we think about how other people see us, we are anchoring their perspective to ours.
Since we are all the center of our own world, it is difficult to detach from our self-conscious fears to assess how others perceive us accurately.
Getting caught up in the reflector effect is damaging as it will prevent you from being your best version. After all, how can you focus on the important things in life when opinions and imaginary events repeat themselves over and over in your head?
“Don’t waste your energy trying to educate or change opinions; go over, under, through, and opinions will change organically when you’re the boss. Or they won’t. Who cares? Do your thing, and don’t care if they like it.” ― Tina Fey
It will inevitably prevent you from doing what you should do for your small business like a good boss.
When you think you are in the spotlight and everyone is judging you, you are more likely to see things as risky and less likely to think abstractly or challenge the status quo.
Entrepreneurs must be willing to take emotional risks, and this phenomenon prevents too many promising entrepreneurs from knowing how to be a good leader.
2. Imagine someone else in the same situation.
You may believe that being overly self-aware is something you cannot change about yourself, but that is not true.
Psychologists say that there are distancing techniques you can use to minimize anxiety.
For example, ask yourself what your reaction would be if someone else in a meeting asked you what you think is a silly question. (Funny how most questions seem silly only if we consider asking ourselves.)
Would you think about it all day, or would you quickly dismiss it? Doing this often will help you put things in perspective and teach you how to be a good leader.
3. Stop obsessing over yourself.
The next time you’re concerned that everyone is paying attention to something you did, ask yourself if it’s just because you’re obsessed with it.
“Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you.” ― Cynthia Kersey
Just because you feel self-conscious doesn’t mean that no one else is focused on you, but rather that they are too busy thinking about themselves.
This means that to be a good boss, you have to stop worrying about what others are doing while delivering your message. Instead, focus on knowing how to get their attention and hold it while you’re talking.
4. Label your behaviour differently.
So, you mustered the courage to get closer to that new perspective, and they ignored you. You may perceive this as an epic failure, but is it really so?
If it happens every time you have a problem. If it happens a few times, it’s just the cost of doing business, so don’t take it personally.
Remove the labels you put on your perceived mishaps and failures.
The ability to learn from real mistakes and let go of everything else is a character trait of an effective leader, so work on developing it to the best of your ability.
5. To be a good boss, give your ego a break.
Most people who see themselves in the beam of imaginary spotlights are not really cocky, but there is an element of personal importance.
Don’t downplay your importance; remember that all eyes are generally not focused on you.
“Knowledge and ego are directly related. the less knowledge, the greater the ego.” – Albert Einstein
Relax, if you don’t act too embarrassed or self-conscious, or if you don’t apologize for something that doesn’t deserve an apology, the chances are that no one will notice the things that bother you.
6. Add a touch of humour.
So if you are going to work with a brown shoe and a black shoe, people can tell. Instead of being on your feet all day, make a joke.
Once a situation comes to light, your self-awareness about it will decrease. This will help you understand how to be a good leader and be an example to many around you.
To be a good boss, you must learn to master embarrassing moments and turn them into laughter and fun. This will give your team the vision of not being ashamed of making a fool of yourself.
This, in turn, will help them always to give you new ideas regardless of what others think.
7. Look at the other side of the spotlight.
Since people aren’t paying as much attention to you as you thought, they might not be as quick to pick up on something you want them to notice.
When you shave your beard or get a new haircut, don’t be offended if others don’t jump in to flatter you right away. They are too busy showing off their new outfit.
Knowing how to be a good leader implies that you do not worry about others’ opinions. Never expect anything from anyone and keep working daily for the cause that motivates you to do so.
